Instagram app arrives for Android

So it Instagram worth the price you’ll pay to download it? It’s free on the Google Play App Store – of course it’s worth it! Herein lies the only place you’ll be able to share with the Instagram brand name attached, and all of your Apple friends are already using it anyway. Might as well catch up! Pick this app up on the Google Play App Storeor the iTunes App Store today! Then the editing screen for Android:Then notice how it’s all in one on iPhone:The iPhone version is also able to give you real-time effects before you take the photo while Android does not yet have this ability in place. On the other hand, Android is able to share directly with Foursquare, while iOS lacks this ability. Make your choice!

The notification on Instagram Android launch is picking up base; the proverbial rolling stone is picking up pace, perhaps laying testament to how close it is to become a reality. A user’s Galaxy 10.1 tablet caught a glimpse of it, but the link was severed before the download made any headway. Suffice to say that this probably would have ruined the surprise. The Instagram Android merger is potentially the most anticipated, despite the fact that the application is taking a little longer than usual to hit the market. One thing is for sure, this is bound to be a ground breaking release, hopefully surpassing expectation.
There is a lot of he-said she-said going round as to why Android application launches are perennially slow to the mark, while the likes of Apple are much quicker off the blocks. Testament to the fact that Smartphone nerds have been waiting months to download the Instagram Android, with nothing forthcoming. Apple faithfuls don’t mind paying for these applications, which is perhaps the reason behind the fast release. Be that as it may, the waiting game on the Instagram Android is getting a little frustrating for many people, hopefully it won’t be much longer. On a much lighter note, perhaps on some level, it will be worth the wait.
Android is still feeling around the market. With Apple still basking in the lions market share, it is still a bit too early to be counting chickens. That said, note that the ground is shifting, and the integration of the Instagram into Android ranks will potentially shift a few blocks around, and give Android that extra edge. If the Instagram Android is half as decent as people hope, then it should have no trouble getting the love of the masses and causing waves like all Smartphone applications that came before it.

Instagram, one of the most popular photo processing and sharing apps is now available for Android. The free app, which works with Android 2.2 or newer, is initially missing a couple of the iOS app's features (such as tilt-shift and blur), which the company will add soon. As well as processing, the app uploads images to Instagram's sharing service, which has recently been expanded to include submissions from other popular apps such as Hipstamatic and Camera Awesome.

CyanogenMod 9 Music

Last October I started playing around with the old, stock Music app. I was making small UI changes and, like anything, they were far from amazing at first. I've been teaching myself Java for a little over a year and starting to seeing the Music app progress has been a nice reward for time spent learning and using Java. The more I started playing around, the more exciting it became to experiment with what I could do. Eventually, I reached a point where the app could go places, and today I'm happy to announce where that is.

Introducing the new CyanogenMod Music app.

Fling up to control your music. Long press for Party Shuffle. Long press for queue.

The app comes with a degree of customization that you won't find in any other Music app, or possibly, in any app. You can shop the Android Market for the currently playing song at the push of a button, share what track you're listening to with all your social outlets, set your favorite song as ring tones, delete unwanted tracks, and search your music from anywhere in the app.

Rich and custom notifications. Drag & Drop queue and playlist. Custom lockscreen.

The Music app is all about customization. Recently, I've been in the process of integrating a theme engine into the app. The theme engine is thoroughly customizable, allowing designers to touch every UI element in the app. Every drawable (images, backgrounds, etc), all text views, and each seek bars can be themed using the theme engine. I've had a lot fun using it and I'm excited to see what everyone will bring to the table. That being said, I'm also releasing the Music Theme Template for everyone to download today. You can use this to create the themes, and below is an example of what you can do with the theme engine. This is a "Google Music" theme, based on the latest version of the Google Music app. It also doubles as the theme template for the app.

The Music app also comes with native Shake and Flip actions. Quickly play and pause your music by flipping your phone face down, then back up again. You can customize the Shake Action to control you music in more detail. Both of these actions run in the background and can be used no matter where you are in your phone. There are also several other customizations and features that I'm sure you'll find fun and useful. Here are a couple screen shots of the Music app on the new Galaxy Nexus and one of all the new widgets.

Keep an eye out in the Music app in the Market over the next couple of weeks (I'm still looking for a name, suggestions are welcome), and watch for it in CyanogenMod 9.
